Tabatik ("the App") is a Tabata and EMOM interval workout timer for iPhone and Apple Watch. Your privacy is fundamental to how we build and operate this app. This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
Summary: Tabatik processes all data on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit personal or health data to our servers. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking. The only optional network activity is the AI voice coaching feature, which you control entirely.
1. Data We Access

With your explicit permission, the App reads and writes the following HealthKit data types:

Apple HealthKit Disclosure: In accordance with Apple's requirements, HealthKit data is used solely to provide workout tracking functionality. HealthKit data is never used for advertising, is never sold or shared with third parties, and is never transferred off your device by the App. You may revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices.
User Preferences
The App stores your settings (timer configurations, sound preferences, display options) locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
OpenAI API Key (Optional)
If you choose to use the AI voice coaching feature, your OpenAI API key is stored in the iOS Keychain, which provides hardware-backed encryption. The key is stored on-device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
2. AI Voice Coaching — OpenAI Text-to-Speech
Tabatik offers an optional AI voice coaching feature powered by OpenAI's text-to-speech (TTS) API. This feature is disabled by default and requires you to provide your own OpenAI API key to activate.
What is sent to OpenAI
Short text phrases only: exercise names (e.g., "Burpees"), countdown cues (e.g., "3, 2, 1, Go!"), and transition prompts (e.g., "Rest")
Your OpenAI API key (to authenticate the request)
What is NOT sent to OpenAI
No health data (heart rate, calories, workout history)
No personal information (name, age, weight, location)
No device identifiers or usage analytics
Your control
This feature is entirely opt-in. The App functions fully without it.
You can disable AI voice coaching at any time in the App's settings.
You can delete your stored API key at any time from the App's settings.
The Tabatik Apple Watch app has the same HealthKit access as the iPhone app. All data processing occurs on-device. Health data synced between iPhone and Apple Watch uses Apple's secure HealthKit framework and is governed by Apple's privacy policies.

6. Your Rights & Data Control
Deleting your data
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
App preferences: Deleting the App removes all UserDefaults data.
API key: Delete from the App's settings, or it is removed when the App is uninstalled.
HealthKit data: Manage in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices. You can delete individual workouts or revoke Tabatik's access entirely.
GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Because Tabatik stores all data on your device and does not transmit personal data to external servers (except the optional OpenAI TTS feature described above), you exercise these rights directly through your device:
Right to access: Your data is on your device and accessible through the App and Apple Health.
Right to deletion: Delete the App to remove all app data. Manage HealthKit data through iOS Settings.
Right to restrict processing: Revoke HealthKit permissions or disable AI voice coaching at any time.
Legal basis: We process data based on your explicit consent (HealthKit permission prompts and optional feature activation).
CCPA (California)
If you are a California resident:
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You may request deletion of your data by uninstalling the App and managing your HealthKit data in iOS Settings.
7. Children's Privacy
Tabatik does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The App does not require account creation and does not collect personally identifiable information.
8. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services only:
Apple HealthKit: For workout data storage and health metric reading. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
OpenAI TTS API (optional): For AI voice coaching. Only activated when you provide your own API key. Governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
No other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising frameworks are used.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. If we make material changes, we will notify you through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
